I love taking photos of diners, signs, neons etc. Endless subject matter in the USA but we seem to have far fewer here. Some may say that's may good thing.

Polaroid Sepia Expired Film

Over the last few Months I have been buying the odd packet of Polaroid Sepia Fil from e-bay (Korea in fact). Polaroid stopped making all instant film in 2009 so this is all old stuff but mostly it has been kept refrigerated.
I had a bit of a false start with the first pack I used but much better results from a pack I put in the 103 Land Camera at the weekend. Fitted the Polaroid 583 Close Up Attachment and made some exposures with the lighten wheel set nearly all the way to "Lighten"
Very pleased so far.

Chester Canal Walk

Another busy day ends with a night away from home. Ah but the sun is shining and the evenings are stretching out AND I have my Polaroid 103 Automatic Land Camera and Olympus 35RC rangefinder cameras with me.
A walk along the canal soon began to reveal shapes, shadows and textures.
The Fuji 3000b instant peel apart film coped pretty well given the high level of local contrast.

Fenland Project

Fenland revisited, big skies, straight roads...beautiful....at least it is to some of us...I guess moutains streams and spectacular scenery does it for others.
Appreciate where you are, where you live....look at it through fresh eyes....see the unseen, the overlooked the forgotten and above all......

Three Random Images

These have absolutely nothing in common save for the fact they were all shot using the Polaroid 103 and Fuji 100c peel apart film.
The Album playing on the Rega is Erpland by Ozric Tentacles...if you are interested...the phone boxes are at Hopwood Park Services on the M42 South of Birmingham and the Alloy Wheel Garage is in Great Yarmouth.

Another weekend....another trip to Great Yarmouth.....Found a new model to photograph although she hardly stopped giggling...I wanted her to look m"Mournfully into the distance".....

Saw the heads in a little shop in the town centre, hand held the Polaroid 103 and very pleased with the odd result.

Salford Quays #2

I was fascinated by the modern architecture sprouting out of the ground in Salford Quays. The Imperial War Museum's award winning building was conceived by Daniel Libeskind and is based on a globe shattered by conflict into 3 pieces or shards.
Fuji 100b instant film has now been discontinued but I have a few packs in the fridge....ready for New York in the Summer

First of a number of images made whilst wandering around the wonderful Salford Quays. It's where Media City is rising up like a phoenix. They are even building a new coronation street there.

Can't wait to get to the States to see and photograph some American Diners (proper).
A good reason to keep a camera with you at all times, suddenly you see trends emerging, being drawn to particular subjects.

Roadside Diners

Another emerging project, alongside seaside towns and the Fens is roadside diners and cafes. Unlike the USA we don't seem to be blessed with lots of small independent diners, some copies like the OK Diners on the A1 and some "Buddies" American Diners you can find.
Back to the Fuji 100c for these photos shot on Polaroid 103 Automatic Land Camera.

Great Yarmouth with the Polaroid 103

An overnight trip to Great Yarmouth on a cold January evening.
Before driving home on the Saturday I walked along the seafront with the 103 Automatic Land Camera and the 420 Automatic Land Camera. The 103 was loaded with Fuji 3000b and the 420 with Fuji 100c silk.

Seaside towns out of season look drab, deglected, unloved and expectant.....what great places to look to "see what things look like photographed".

Now, I have shot many rolls of traditional film in GY over the years, and many other seaside towns come to that but since I got hooked on instant photography my desire to record my home town and the Fenlands where I have lived for 11 years has been rekindled with a passion.

So, to kick off here are three observations from this cold January trip.

More studies under the "Fenland Project" banner using the 103 Land Camera and the wonderful Fuji 3000b. This garage has now ceased trading and sits on the edge of the Fenland Market Town of Ramsei in Cambridgeshire

What is it about old signs? well they make great black and white images for a start and doesn't the Polaroid 103 Automatic Land Camera handle it well.
With little time available to spend in the darkroom the buzz I get from peeling apart a new instant black and white print is enormous.
Both these photos were taken outside the home of a vintasge car collector in Somersham near Huntingdon/
